The Magic of Chick's Full Name

[Sol.jpg]

What’s the story behind your name?

[Chick.jpg]

Do you follow baseball?

[Sol.jpg]

No.

[Buck.jpg]

Yes.

[Chick.jpg]

My grandpa’s and my daddy’s favorite team is the Chicago White Sox. My grandpa named my daddy Chick after Chick Gandel—one of the 1919 Black Sox. My daddy named me Chick to keep the name alive. It can work for a girl, obviously.

[Sol.jpg]

A daughter named after a father—that’s interesting.

[Buck.jpg]

Thanks, King Sol.

[Chick.jpg]

You call him King Sol?

[Buck.jpg]

His full name is Sol Solomon. I call him King Sol because his wisdom bears such a striking resemblance to King Solomon’s in the Bible.

[Chick.jpg]

Oh.

[Sol.jpg]

Buck’s full name is Buckminster Ulysses.

[Chick.jpg]

That’s very stately.

[Buck.jpg]

You don’t have to say it’s stately. I know it’s a lot.

[Chick.jpg]

Okay.

[Buck.jpg]

What’s your last name?

[Chick.jpg]

Actually my full name is Oneida Chick Bailey. Oneida was my grandma’s name. It sounds old so I go by Chick.

[Buck.jpg]

Oneida Chick Bailey?

[Chick.jpg]

Yes.

[Buck.jpg]

Oneida Chick Bailey? Are you kidding me?

[Chick.jpg]

No.

[Buck.jpg]

Sol? Oneida Chick Bailey?

[Sol.jpg]

I heard, Buck.

[Buck.jpg]

No, I don't think you did, Sol. Oneida Chick Bailey. Three first names. She has three girl first names!

[Sol.jpg]

(Sol falls out of the tree.)

[Chick.jpg]

What’s the big deal?

[Buck.jpg]

Nothing. It’s just a small world.
